Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- "What inspirations can an old man unearth while creating a garden?" That question is addressed in author Gabriel Lightfriend's new work of fiction --- "FLOWERS OF LIGHT: Reflections of this Journey through Life" --- a spiritual self-help guide that features one man's journal entries, inspirational poems, and personal photographs.

Lightfriend's book, which also includes his own breathtaking flower photography, follows an elderly seeker named Sol, as he journeys through a canyon in the Arizona desert to an herbal tea bar in a tiny coastal town in the Pacific Northwest. Sol eventually creates a garden and finds a whole new level of existence that magically awakens his true inner spirit.

Lightfriend believes everyone -- from yoga enthusiast, to nature lover or the average individual,-- can benefit from this special collection of writings and photography that he began creating 25 years ago.

"The book talks about the values of faith, acceptance and love," said Lightfriend, 54. "The backdrop is a garden and flowers are Sol's No. 1 pastime."

"People need to find a place that offers meaning," he said. "TV channels, newspapers and other media deal with so much conflict and violence that people are not getting spiritually satisfied. We need a more positive outlook to synchronize ourselves with deeper awareness."

Readers are finding that outlook in "Flowers of Light," a seed that was firmly planted in Lightfriend's mind years ago.

"I started writing my thoughts down over the years," said Lightfriend. "I saved them in a suitcase and then I had all these pictures of flowers from my own garden, so I decided to build a story around that."
